Feminine hygiene products. Needlessly pricey?

Let's talk about our necessities. As a woman, once a month I have to go to the shop and buy products for my own hygiene, each time this happens I spend around 10 euro, living in Spain. Which you may think, well, that is not a great amount of money. Maybe it is not for someone in a good economic position, but for someone who barely has money to live, sometimes they have to choose between eating and personal hygiene. Does,'t this seem unfair? It is. While worldwide governments are deciding to spend their money in war, unnecessary political charges and many other things, there is women struggling out there to keep their own hygiene. In Spain, for example, 60.000 million € is spent in inefficient public charges (from a study from the IEE). Isn't that money enough to pay for hygienic products? It is.

Another fact to take account of is that throughout the covid crisis face masks have been subsidized by the government, which did make sense back then when the sanitary workers were working day and night to protect and cure us from the virus. But right now, it is not even compulsory to wear face masks except on public transport and at hospitals and in pharmacies. Despite from that, the government still regulates the price of this product. However, feminine hygiene products are constantly used by more than half of the population, and it is not a personal decision to use them or not, we have to use them necessarily. Nevertheless, face masks are still regulated by the government, even though they are not as used as hygiene products are right now, the only difference is that face masks are used by men, and hygiene products not, which leaves in evidence once again that there is still a difference between men and women, for which we have to keep on striking until we have full equality.
